The Asante Kingdom has been plunged into mourning following the death of its Queen Mother, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

‎The Oyoko Family formally conveyed the news to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during an emergency meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council on Monday.

‎Born Nana Ama Konadu, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, was the 14th occupant of the revered Asantehemaa stool and the biological sister of the current Asantehene. She ascended the position  following the passing of her mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II.

‎Nana Konadu Yiadom III was widely respected for her wisdom, loyalty, and devotion to Asante traditions. She played a pivotal role in safeguarding Asante culture and was a strong pillar of counsel for Otumfuo Osei Tutu II throughout his reign.

‎Her presence at the Manhyia Palace was regarded as a symbol of unity and continuity for both the royal family and the broader Asanteman.

‎Though details of her passing remain limited, family sources say she died in the early hours of August 7, 2025.

‎The Manhyia Palace is expected to officially announce her death and outline funeral arrangements once all traditional rites, including those reserved for royalty, have been duly performed.
