The halls have chosen to have a joint week celebration

The initially controversial name “3Sum,” chosen for the joint Hall Week celebration of Elizabeth Frances Sey Hall, Alexander Kwapong Hall, and Jubilee International Students’ Hall, has officially been changed to “Tripora.”

In an interview on At The DJ’s Mercy with Kvng Kelly on Friday, June 20, 2025, the Organising Secretary of Elizabeth Frances Sey Hall, Sabina Annor, confirmed the name change, clarifying that it does not affect the programme line-up. She explained that the shift was inspired largely by a desire to project a more professional image, even though the meaning behind the original name remains unchanged.

“It’s still the same collaboration. Nothing about the programme has changed. We just wanted the name to sound more refined. ‘3Sum’ really caught attention, but we felt ‘Tripora’ was more appropriate publicly,” she shared.

According to Sabina, the original term “3Sum” referred to the three halls coming together. The new name, Tripora, maintains that essence—“Tri” symbolising the three halls, and “pora” referencing the Diaspora, where two of the three halls are located.

She also revealed that the collaborative nature of the Hall Week was in line with a directive from the Dean of Students, Prof. Rosina Kyerematen, aimed at encouraging unity and shared celebrations among campus halls.

This year’s Tripora Hall Week Celebration is set to run from June 29 to July 5, 2025, and will feature an exciting line-up of activities. Headlining the event is the reigning TGMA Artiste of the Year, along with several other top performers, promising an unforgettable experience for students and guests.
