Some students at the University of Ghana have shared mixed reactions to the viral video showing Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Samuel Gyamfi, handing over some US dollars to self-styled evangelist Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

The incident, captured in a widely circulated video, has stirred public backlash and reportedly prompted Chief of Staff Julius Debrah to summon Mr. Gyamfi for clarification.

While some students argue that Mr. Gyamfi has the freedom to spend his personal funds as he wishes, others believe that, as a public official, he should exercise greater caution and accountability in his public conduct.

“Honestly, I’m surprised he chose to support her, considering her past controversies,” one student said. “As a public figure, Sammy Gyamfi should’ve thought about how his actions would be perceived by the public.”

Another added, “It raises serious questions about his priorities and judgment. Giving money to someone with such a contentious background sends the wrong message.”

However, not all students are critical. Some defended his actions, insisting that he has the freedom to spend his money however he chooses.

“It’s his personal money. Why should people dictate what he does with it?”

This controversy has raised questions about Sammy Gyamfi’s judgment and priorities.
