UK-based Ghanaian music producer, composer and Grammy board member, Myx Quest, has pointed out that many Ghanaian artists lament their absence at the Grammys without submitting their works for nomination.

Speaking on the red carpet of the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards held on May 10, 2025, Myx Quest expressed concern over the lack of Grammy nominations from Ghanaian musicians, noting that many fail to even begin the process by filing for nominations.

“Well, what I can tell you is whoever submits, because the a lot of people don’t even submit in the first place, So they cry about not getting nominated but they don’t even submit in the first place.” he revealed when asked who he believes can win Ghana its first Grammy.

He explained that the Grammy Awards do not arbitrarily hand out recognitions to artists based on popularity or talent alone; it starts with submission and eligibility. His comments subtly pointed to a lack of awareness or strategic effort on the part of some Ghanaian musicians aiming for global accolades.

When quizzed about who he thinks deserves to win Artiste of the Year, Myx Quest admitted it was a tough call due to the strong competition. However, he gave a special mention to King Paluta, highlighting the rapper’s consistent run of hit songs over the past year.

“You know what? It’s tricky because obviously you’ve got consistency on one side, which is King Promise, you’ve got Stonebwoy, you’ve got Blacko, who’s got crazy impact, but let’s not sleep on Paluta, do you know what I mean, like the massive hits that he has. So I think it really comes down to the criteria, which is over to you guys,” he explained.

The remarks by Myx Quest underscore the need for education and industry professionalism within Ghana’s music ecosystem, especially regarding international award participation.

As Ghana’s music industry continues to grow globally, voices like his provide valuable insight into how artists can bridge the gap between local success and international acclaim.
