The University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (UGSRC) has donated essential items to the UG main campus chapter of the Ghana Muslim Students’ Association (GMSA) to provide relief to Muslim students observing Ramadan.
The donation, which took place on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the forecourt of the UG Central Mosque, included 100 bags of sachet water, bottled water, assorted drinks, and a cheque for GH₵4,000. This gesture is part of the SRC’s commitment to student welfare and religious inclusivity.

Presenting the items, the vice president of UGSRC, Jeffery Adu-Yeboah, emphasized the importance of supporting students, especially during significant religious periods like Ramadan.
“We donated to support the students who are fasting as Muslims during this Ramadan season. We understand that fasting throughout the day can be challenging, so we decided to present 100 bags of water and other items to assist them in breaking their fast. We didn’t want to wait until the official breaking of the fast before offering our support.”
Receiving the donation behalf of GMSA, the association’s president, Tahiru Mahey expressed deep appreciation for the SRC’s generosity, emphasizing that the donation would provide significant relief for Muslim students during this sacred period.
The event was attended by executives from both the SRC and GMSA, as well as other student leaders, who applauded the initiative as a step toward fostering unity and inclusivity among the student body.
