Alfred Takyi Mensah, the Communications Director of Basake Holy Stars, has expressed concerns over Asante Kotoko’s unimpressive display against the relatively inexperienced Holy Stars, questioning their credibility as serious contenders for the league title.

The head of sports at Onua FM/TV emphasized that Kotoko must significantly improve their performance to remain competitive in both the Ghana Premier League and African competitions.

“Every Kotoko fan should start crying, this is not a team that can win league or compete in Africa. Kotoko does not deserve to win the league because you’re playing against inexperienced players and the whole 90 minutes Kotoko could not possess three or four patterns. It should be a worry to Asante Kotoko fans, even Opemsuo, because this kind of attitude, I am sorry Asante Kotoko needs to beef up and stand up a little else it will be difficult for them to compete” he said.

Asante Kotoko’s classic 1-0 victory formula was back on display as they narrowly triumphed over Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium.

A 14th-minute deflected shot from Samuel Tenedu made all the difference, handing Kotoko their third consecutive win and extending their unbeaten streak to four matches.

The Porcupine Warriors now sit one point clear at the top of the table, taking advantage of Bibiani Gold Stars’ failure to secure a win at home against Hearts of Oak.
