Ghanaian midfielder Micheal Baidoo has made the move to English club Plymouth Argyle after three successful seasons with Swedish side Elfsborg
The 25-year-old midfielder agreed to a three-and-a-half-year deal with the English Championship side. According to multiple reports Plymouth Argyle paid a record-breaking £1.45 million plus add-ons for the Ghanaian.
Baidoo’s football journey began in his native country Ghana, where he cut his teeth with local outfit Vision FC. His impressive performances caught the attention of Danish giants Midtjylland, who snapped him up in the 2018 season. After a solitary season in Denmark, Baidoo gained valuable experience on loan stints with Norwegian clubs FK Jerv and Sandnes.
Baidoo’s breakthrough season arrived in 2022 with Elfsborg, where he played a pivotal role where he was involved in 10 goals after 22 appearances. Since then, he has cemented his status as a key player, delivering impressive performances. Most notably, in the 2024 season, he scored 10 goals and provided 5 assists in just 27 appearances, solidifying his position as an integral piece in Elfsborg’s attacking machinery
The Ghanaian set to don the number 30 Jersey is expected to play a major role at his new club as they currently lie bottom of the 2024/25 EFL championship table with just 19 points from 24 games played so far.
