The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has congratulated the Republican Party and their flagbearer, Donald Trump, for winning the 2024 United States general elections.

Trump defeated his fierce rival, Kamala Harris, the country’s current Vice President and flagbearer of the Democratic Party, by securing 51% of the vote, becoming the 47th president of the United States and marking his second term in office.

In a statement dated November 4, 2024, the NPP commended the Republican Party for their victory in the 2024 elections. The party also praised the United States for conducting a peaceful and successful election, stating that Ghanaians would take inspiration from this example as they prepare for their own coming December 7.

“The NPP also congratulates the United States of America for reaching another significant milestone in its democratic journey following the peaceful conduct of the elections. America has once again shown the way, and we, in Ghana, have valuable lessons to learn from this American example, especially as we prepare to go to the polls on December 7, 2024.”

The NPP also highlighted their shared values with the Republican Party, noting the iconic elephant symbol that both parties share, which they believe will inspire their own success in the upcoming election. According to the NPP, both Trump and Vice President Bawumia stand for “Bold Solutions.”

“It is no secret that the NPP has a longstanding and close relationship with the Republican Party and shares many commonalities, including the great ELEPHANT symbol, political orientation, and ideology. Both parties are part of the global alliance of center-right political parties, the International Democrat Union (IDU).”

“It is our fervent hope that, just as the United States’ ‘elephant party’ has emerged victorious, Ghana’s ‘elephant party’ will also win the December elections, by the grace of God. This is particularly because both President Trump and H.E. Dr. Bawumia advocate for BOLD SOLUTIONS for their respective countries.”

The NPP concluded by wishing President-elect Donald Trump the very best in office, expressing confidence that Dr. Bawumia will win the upcoming December elections.

“We wish the Trump administration all the best in their tenure of office, and we are confident that the incoming Bawumia administration, by God’s grace, will build on the already fruitful relationship between our two political parties and nations for mutual benefit.”
