Austrian center-back of Ghanaian descent Kevin Danso has been declared fit to return to first-team football, the club has confirmed.

The 26-year-old Lens defender had been sidelined due to a potential heart issue identified by medical staff.

Danso was initially expected to leave the French Ligue 1 club during the summer transfer window.

He had agreed to personal terms with Roma and started medical tests before being announced as a new player for the Italian club.

However, the potential heart issue was discovered during these tests, leading Roma’s medical staff to determine that he had failed the medical, and the transfer collapsed.

The positive news comes as a boost for Lens, who have been without Danso while he underwent further tests. Following these assessments, the club confirmed that the complication has been resolved and that the defender is now fit to play.

“On a comprehensive invasive electrical study of Kevin’s heart, no heart muscle scar or electrical abnormalities were detected that would lead to or support the development of dangerous arrhythmias. Based on the available data, we would consider him fit to play competitive football,” the club’s statement.
