The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Madam Jean Mensa, has unveiled plans to introduce an online platform that will enable voters to review their registration details at no cost.

She explained that the initiative is designed to promote transparency and ensure the accuracy of the voters’ register ahead of the 2024 general elections.

During the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on October 1, she stated plans to launch an online platform that will allow voters to review their registration details free of charge.

“In the coming days, the commission will exhibit a provisional voter’s register online. We have developed an online platform to allow voters to review their registration details at no cost to the voter.”

In addition to the online review process, Madam Mensa noted that voters will be given a specific period to report any discrepancies they identify in their registration details.

She urged all voters to make use of the online platform to verify their information and notify the EC of any inconsistencies.

“The idea is to allow a second exhibition of the voter’s register as part of our effort to open up our processes and to ensure our register is robust and accurate for the 2024 elections.”

“We urge all holders to review their details and report any discrepancies they may find. This process will certainly guarantee a fairer cleaning of the register”

Mrs. Mensa emphasized that a specific timeframe for reporting discrepancies would be communicated, reiterating the EC’s commitment to transparency, all at no cost to the voter.

She reassured the public that the commission remains open to scrutiny and will collaborate with stakeholders to improve the accuracy of the register. However, she maintained that the EC will preserve its independence and integrity throughout the process.

The EC Chairperson reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to conducting a transparent and fair election, urging political parties and the public to remain engaged and cooperative as preparations for the 2024 elections progress.
