The University of Ghana has officially suspended the random bed allocation exercise for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The suspension follows the strike action declared by the Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), which has significantly affected various administrative and operational functions at the university, including student services like hall registration.

In a statement released by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Professor Gordon A. Awandare, the university acknowledged the impact of the strike action and announced that the allocation process will remain on hold until further notice.

The suspension, a direct consequence of the labor action, is expected to disrupt residential arrangements for many students.

The notice however assures students that a new date for the bed allocation exercise will be communicated in due course once the situation stabilizes.
