Ghanaian musician Maradona Yeboah Adjei, popularly known as GURU NKZ, has been elected as the new President of the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council (SRC).

The University of Ghana’s SRC elections proceeded despite an interlocutory injunction on the elections.

The musician ran alongside Jeffery Adu-Yeboah, also known as Jaylit, who served as his vice-presidential candidate.

Originally, the election was scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. However, a delay in releasing voting links to students across campus caused a temporary disruption, pushing the start time to 10:00 a.m.
As a result, the voting deadline was extended from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Out of 59,629 eligible voters, only 18,004 participated in the SRC elections. Maradona Yeboah Adjei secured 9,455 votes, representing 50.7% of the total votes cast.
