Team Ghana’s Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah’s Olympic journey comes to an end today, 2nd August, 2024 at the Stade de France in Paris .

Ghana’s first-time high jumper at the Olympic Games, Rose Yeboah, could not progress to the final of the women’s high jump after the 22-year-old was unsuccessful in her attempt to clear the bar at 1.92m.

The two-time African champion successfully cleared the bar at 1.83m on her second time after failing in her attempt.

Rose then successfully cleared the bar at 1.88m on her third attempts after failing to clear the bar in her first and second attempts.

The Ghanaian needed to clear the bar at 1.97m, the height she jumped to secure a ticket to Paris for the Olympics Game.

However, Rose could not clear the bar at the 1.92m leading to her early shower in the high jump competition.

Rose was in Group A alongside women’s high jump record holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine, who jumped higher than any woman in history, setting a world record of 2.10m at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in June. Yaroslava qualified from Group A with a jump of 1.95m along with Patterson Eleanor of Australia and Honsel Christina of Germany.

Rose performance today saw a dip in her performance during African Games in Accra which she cleared a height of 1.90m and her personal best (PB) which stands at 1.97m.

Since breaking onto the scene in 2019, the 22-year-old high jumper has won back-to-back African Games and African Athletics Seniors Championships gold medals.

In her cabinet are six gold medals and one silver medal from four continental or global competitions.
