The University of Ghana (UG) has announced a significant restructuring of its Department of Modern Languages, effective today, August 1, 2024.

The move, approved by the UG Council, will see the department split into two distinct entities: the Department of African and Asian Languages and the Department of European Languages.

The Department of African and Asian Languages will comprise the Arabic, Chinese, and Kiswahili sections, while the Department of European Languages will encompass the Russian and Spanish sections.

This restructuring aims to enhance the university’s language offerings, promote specialized focus, and improve resource allocation. The university urges all stakeholders to take note of the changes.
