University of Ghana Student’s Representative Council (UGSRC) presidential aspirant, Emanuel Owusu Amponsah, popularly known as ManuelLife, has partnered with Lawrence Edinam Egleh to run as his running mate in the 2024 UGSRC elections. They submitted their nomination at the University of Ghana SRC Union building on Friday, July 12, 2025, greeted by a fleet of cars and a cheering crowd.
Expressing his enthusiasm over partnering with Lawrence Edinam, ManuelLife highlighted their shared vision and mutual commitment to addressing student concerns.
He added that their decision to pair as a team was a genuine and mutual one which resulted from an official meeting incolcing both of them.
“We just had one meeting and after the meeting we decided to run together. Just one meeting.”
“So it’s basically as my running mate suggested. We are running an all-inclusive SRC. And per the meeting that we had, we identified the fact that we share a lot of things in common. And the desire, that unflinching desire, that burning desire to serve the interest of students in terms of addressing major concerns, accommodation, certain pertinent issues that are affecting our academic life, identifying the fact that we share similar thoughts and in terms of executing those thoughts, we identified the common ground. That’s when I knew that this is the right person to work with.”
Manuel Life finally remained optimistic about their chances, emphasizing their strong connections with the student body and faith in divine support.
“When it comes to election, I think it’s the students that are going to vote. So my focus is on the students, how best we can address their issues. And I believe that I have touched the base with the students, personal relationships with the students, like my running mate. And we believe that. with God on our side and with the students running behind the ticket that has assisted them since level 100.”
“…I believe that [the students] would definitely sit down and recall our relationship with them, how best when they needed us in their tutorials, how best when they needed us in like the level 100 when they came to school, they needed us to assist them. We’ve been there with them and I believe that they would definitely reward us with this SRC position.”
Meanwhile, the candidates were met with frustration upon the absence of the UGSRC Electoral Commissioner. The candidates criticized the EC’s directive that all nomination forms must be submitted to him personally, arguing this was a flaw that left them handicapped and unable to attend to other important matters while waiting for him.
