Novak Djokovic beat Francisco Cerundolo 6-1 7-5 6-3 to reach the French Open quarter-finals on Monday at the Stade Roland Garros in Paris, France.

Novak Djokovic continues his chase for a record-extending 25th major title and fourth French Open crown after defeating Argentine 23rd seed Francisco Cerundolo in a thrilling four hours and 39 minutes game to reach a record 59th Grand Slam quarter-final

Novak Djokovic battled injury and fatigue to survive another near five-hour, five-set French Open thriller with a 6-1 5-7 3-6 7-5 6-3 victory over Francisco Cerundolo on Monday.

The 37-year-old tweaked his knee and received four medical timeouts for the problem, but despite his movement being hampered, Djokovic refused to surrender, and he battled back from two sets to one down and 2-4 in the fourth set to make the last eight in Paris for the 15th consecutive time.

For the second time in three days, the 24-time major champion fought back from a two-sets-to-one deficit.

At one point I didn’t know if I should continue, said Djokovic.

I don’t know what will happen tomorrow or if I’ll be able to step out on the court and play. I hope so. Let’s see what happens, ” The Serb added

The top seed broke out into a beaming smile when he sealed the victory, pointing to his chest and then to the court in celebration.

The Serb, who is chasing a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title, sealed his 370th match victory to move clear of Swiss great Roger Federer.

Djokovic will face Norwegian seventh seed Casper Ruud, who the Serb beat in last year’s final, in the last eight on Wednesday.

Can Casper Ruud finally get his revenge on the Serb on Wednesday?
