Accra Hearts of Oak assistant manager Abdul Rahim Bashiru was lost for words after the Phobians endured their 9th defeat of the season in a slender 1-0 loss to Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Hearts went into the game against Lions with an enviable record against their fellow Accra rivals, cleaving onto a 4 league game unbeaten run against the visitors.

However, at the blast of the whistle for full time, it was utter elation and joy for the visitors, who added their host to a long list of big guns they have slayed in the ongoing season; Medeama, Kotoko and Aduana, all falling prey to Lions.

The latest defeat, against a side who had never beaten the Phobians, means the Rainbow club have recorded 1 victory in their last 5 league outings, leaving them with 35 points in 12th position.

In addressing Hearts of Oak’s uncharacteristic loss to spear carriers, Accra Lions, assistant coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru was left dumbstruck.

To me, I can’t tell you the reason why. I don’t know whether we lost focus or what. But you can see, we’ve been trying, trying, trying, but they defend so well, and their goalkeeper did very very well. So, we have to congratulate them for the win, he said.

The Phobians have it all to do, with their next league game on the road to high-flying Berekum Chelsea.
