Bournemouth and Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo has been elected as one of 7 nominees for the Player of the Month award for March in the English Premier League.

Semenyo’s nomination comes off the back of an instrumental display for his club, AFC Bournemouth, where the Ghanaian contributed massively to the team by scoring 3 goals en-route to the Cherries 3 league wins picked up in the month.

Semenyo has been an integral member of Andre Iraola’s set-up both defensively and offensively. But for all his hard work all season, he shone brightly in March than in previous months, earning him the opportunity to become the first Ghanaian to stake a claim in winning the prestigious Premier league player of the month award since Andre Ayew last won it for Swansea City in 2015.

Semenyo’s enterprising play has not gone under the radar, as the Premier league has duly acknowledged him.

However, he would have to earn the accolade the hard way as he is pitted against Cole Palmer of Chelsea, Rodrigo Muniz of Fulham, Heung Min Son of Tottenham Hotspurs, Alexis Mac Allister of Liverpool, Ben White of Arsenal and Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

Semenyo’s goals for Bournemouth in the month of March came against Burnely in a 2-0 win before netting a brace to spur the Cherries to a 4-3 victory after trailing 3-0 at home to Luton town.

History beckons for Semenyo, as he could become only the third Ghanaian to nick the award since Tony Yeboah (March and September 1995) and Andre Ayew (August,2015).
