Ghanaian-based UK boxer, Seth Gyimah, who is popularly known by his stage name as Freezy Macbones, won his first bout in Ghana at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday night against Nigeria’s Olamedeji Salami by way of technical knockout(TKO).

The 33-year-old boxer rose to fame when he first defeated veteran Darryl Sharp at the Copper Box Arena in London to become the Light heavyweight champion.

Months Later, Seth Gyimah was invited by the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) to join the Black Bombers team ahead of the 2024 Olympic games Qualifiers. However, things did not go as planned with Freezy MacBones losing his Olympic qualifying bout to his Senegalese opponent,Seydou Konate in the middleweight category on Saturday, September 9, through a unanimous decision.

The Ghanaian boxer in the aftermath of the bout revealed in an interview that, the results were unfair to him and he should have emerged victorious. Freezy then called for a rematch against Senegalese opponent Seydou Konate in Ghana, which was later called off due to unforeseen circumstances.

The management later secured Nigerian boxer Oladimeji Salami as a replacement for the Senegalese boxer who pulled out earlier.

The stage was set at the Bukom Boxing Arena on Saturday 23 December, 2023. Freezy Macbones handed his Nigerian opponent his first career defeat in Accra. Salami started the better of the two pugilist and showed signs of a promising bout in the first and second rounds, but could not contain the uppercuts and jabs of the Ghanaian in the third and final round. Freezy then won the bout via a Technical Knockout(TKO).

Seth Gyimah has now won his third career bout after being eliminated from the Olympic games Qualifiers. The Ghanaian is yet to decide whether to remain pro or continue in the amateur division.
