Chief Executive Officer of Jobberman Ghana, Hilda Nimo-Tieku has called on employers of companies involved in technology to recruit more women in the job field.
Her statement was aimed at encouraging more women to enter the technological field, addressing the gender gap in the industry.
She was peaking at an organized executive roundtable at the African Regent Hotel addressing the theme ‘Diversity and Inclusion: Empowering Young Women in Tech for Career Success’ through its M-Fit Project, which aims to position over 60 young women in tech roles.
Mrs. Nimo-Tieku noted that there are many women who meet the qualifications for the field and as such, it is her outfit’s objective to financially support the project to facilitate the inclusion of women in the tech industry.
“We have realized that there is a gap when it comes to the tech sector as 80% of the personnel in that sector are males and as a human resource recruitment firm, we want to create opportunities for women to bridge the gap. We also realized that some women are qualified for that industry but are not being employed.”
She also encouraged employers in the tech space to communicate whenever there are job openings in their prospective companies so that women who are qualified for the job positions can be recruited.
“We are requesting for employers who have job openings in the tech space to bring [info on the positions] so we can place hundred women and more, to give them more job opportunities in the space of technology.”
