Hearts of Oak Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV has announced plans to build a stadium for the team.

According to the Board Chairman, this is part of efforts to give the club’s infrastructure an uplift.

In an engagement with club stakeholders, Togbe Afedze says the final project in cresting the uplift will be the construction of a stadium.

He highlighted how important it is for the club to build its own infrastructure to be able to meet CAF standards.

“After the Kpobiman is done, the only thing we don’t have is a big stadium; CAF requires a minimum 25,000 capacity stadium so that is the next thing we have to do. I can assure you that the Board, as visionary and future-oriented as it is,  has already started looking for land for the stadium.”

The Board Chairman further disclosed the new structural development in the team that will see it rock shoulders with the elite clubs on the continent and beyond.

“We are going to be involved in youth development… but it’s not easy when finding Hearts of Oak members. We are adding Auroras and they won’t play free of charge; then we are adding Royal Oaks, and then we were adding the women. So we will now be complete going forward. And again we are very happy a female coach as accomplished as Mercy Tagoe has joined our ranks. So our team structure now has, Hearts of Oak, Auroras (U20), Royal Oaks (U17) and Oaks FC (female side). So these have been deliberately thought about and planned to make sure we meet the requirements going forward.”

In the past few years, Hearts of Oak outlined the need to complete a quadruple project which includes the club’s commercial centre that has been commissioned, Kpobiman Academy and the Phobia house are still under construction. Hearts of Oak SC currently plays their home matches at the Accra Sports Stadium, a venue that the Phobians have graced since 1962.
