The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expelled Ashanti Gold SC from all football competitions for the next season following a unanimous decision by members of congress.

This was formally proclaimed and confirmed during 29th Ordinary Congress of the GFA held on July 10, 2023 at the Great Hall of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.
The Miners will no longer be involved in all football related activities after being indicted in the Inter Allies FC match-fixing incident and failing to prove otherwise legally.

General Secretary of the GFA, Prosper Harrison Addo tabled the motion for Ashanti Gold SC to
be excluded from the Premier League.

The motion was seconded by the president of Dreams FC, Mohammed Ameenu Shardow. Alhaji Karim Grusah, the bankroller of King Faisal FC rose and proposed for the motion to be subjected to a voting process by the congressmen.

64 members of Congress voted against Ashanti Gold SC’s return for the 2023–2024 league season, while 17 supported its readmission in next season’s league.

The club will forfeit all membership privileges and its right to compete in any football tournament, including but the Division Two League of the Ashanti Regional Football Association, since the suspension has been affirmed officially by Congress.

The Ghana Football Association suspended  Ashanti Gold sporting club with immediate effect in accordance with Article 17(1) of the GFA Statutes.

This was as a result of the clubs’ association with officials who have been banned by the Ghana Football Association, namely Kwaku Frimpong and Emmanuel Frimpong over a violation of GFA and FIFA statutes.

The pair were banned by the GFA for their involvement in match fixing and match manipulation in the Betpawa premier league after a thorough probe by a committee set up by the GFA released its findings indicting the Obuasi based club.

The four-time Ghana Premier League champions are currently on a one-season suspension till the following Ordinary Congress.
