Arsenal Star Thomas Partey has been named captain of the Ghana squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The 30-year-old has been instrumental for Arsenal this season, after recently scoring against Aston Villa.
His consistent performances make him a vital asset for Ghana as they embark on their AFCON qualifying campaign.
Thomas Partey has been capped 49 times by Ghana since 2015, scoring 13 goals.
Notably, the squad does not include captain Andre Ayew, who is currently without a club.
This is the second time in a row that the team captain has been excluded, a decision that has sparked debate among journalists and fans.
Returning to the squad is Majeed Ashimeru, who had been sidelined due to injury, alongside Athletic Bilbao star Inaki Williams.
Injuries have ruled out Ernest Nuamah and Forson Amankwah.
Ghana will kick off their AFCON qualifying campaign against Angola on September 5, before heading to Morocco to face Niger.
