Sprint athletes for Team University of Ghana (UG) are expressing optimism ahead of the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games, scheduled for January 3-18, 2025, at the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
Speaking to Univers Sports, Priscilla Anaglo and Nathaniel Kyeremanten shared their confidence as the Games approach.
“This is my first time participating in such a big event, but I’m not afraid at all,” Priscilla told Univers Sports.

“The feeling is great as the Games draw nearer. We are focused and fully prepared,” said Nathaniel.
Nathaniel Kyeremanten, the recent winner of the 100m race at the 60th UG Inter-hall Athletics, noted that the race wasn’t much of a challenge for him, and he is now looking ahead with high expectations for the GUSA Games.
“I know my capabilities, and I’m very focused on the GUSA Games. I’m hoping to grab the gold. I didn’t like the time I clocked in the Inter-hall Athletics race, and besides, it wasn’t very competitive.”

Both athletes emphasised that they are not facing any significant challenges as the Games approach, asserting that, as athletes, self-motivation is key, rather than relying on external factors like money or incentives.
“Everything is okay. I see sports as being about you, not about outsiders. You don’t need incentives to prepare for what you want to do. It’s about your personality and your own determination. You can get the incentives and still fail,” Priscilla explained.
“As an athlete, your main goal should be to win and achieve a better time. Anything else is unnecessary,” Nathaniel added.
