108 pregnant girls sat for BECE in Ashanti Region – GES Regional Office reveals

The Ashanti Regional Office of the Ghana Education Service has revealed that a  total of 108 teenage girls were part of the candidates who sat for this year’s BECE in the region .

The Office also disclosed that an additional 104 nursing mothers also wrote the exams in the region as well.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Directorate in a media engagement with Kumasi based OTEC FM on Tuesday, August 15, added that both the nursing mothers and pregnant girls are part of the 117,084 candidates who sat for the exams in the region.

The breakdown of the candidates is made up of  57,973 males and 59,111 females.

There were also recorded in the region, 304 absentees attributing it to a myriad of factors including ; sickness, dropouts, travels among others.

Mr Boateng further revealed that the Kumasi Metropolis had the highest number of exam centres (36) and the highest number of candidates (9878).
