Agro fusion festival: Celebrating agriculture, ATVET excellence

The Agro Fusion Festival was a captivating event that took place at the Athletic Oval at the University of Ghana to elevate the celebration of agriculture and technical vocational education and training in the agriculture sector (ATVET) in Ghana.

The festival, which was aimed at redefining the experience with its unique blend of the agrofusion, held its inaugural edition, held on the 1st of December 2023, which coincided with the National Farmer’s Day. There were features of an array of games, arts, food, and electrifying performances by numerous musical artists. This year’s event not only marked a significant milestone but also brought much excitement to a lot of the students on campus as it was a good way to kick start the end of year’s festivities.

Fun-filled activities brought excitement at the festival.

The organizers of the Agro-fusion festival shared insights into the festival, explaining how the event was an opportunity to debunk negative perceptions of agriculture in Ghana among the youth.

“Agro fusion is happening for the first time as part of the Ghana grows program. The aim of the Ghana grows program is to change the negative mindset that young people have about agric, the agri-business field and ATVET sectors. We wanted to raise awareness and Agro-fusion festival came up as one of the ways we can use to reach the young people. We are planning to run the festival over the next 3 years so it’s going to happen next year and the year after.”

Following a day filled with thrilling activities, the day was finally crowned with captivating performances. The renowned DWP Academy dance crew, Mens Cook, and several emerging artists graced the stage, creating an atmosphere of excitement. The crowning moment arrived with an exhilarating performance by Camidoh, the sensational hitmaker of “Sugarcane.”
