Martha Koala and Ese Brume may not be the biggest names in the women’s long jump history, but the African duo lit up the National Athletics Center Budapest, after completing incredible leaps on day 1 of the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
Koala, 29, a two-time African champion, who set a new National record earlier this month, looks to be cooking something special in Budapest as she made 6.84m (+0.7) with some ease.
Fellow compatriot and Olympic Bronze medalist *Ese Brume* followed suit hitting a mark of 6.72 (+1.2). Brume comes to Budapest with a good reputation in the Long jump event; She posted a personal best of 7.17 in May 2021 and will be looking to find some good form in the pit.
The two are the only African representatives in the final 12 of the women’s long jump.
