The staff and students of Worawora Senior High School (SHS) in the Oti Region have appealed to government to improve the school’s infrastructure as they grapple with inadequate dormitories and classrooms for effective teaching and learning.

The school, established since 1969, has been facing challenges due to incomplete infrastructure, hindering the learning and living conditions of the students.

Speaking to Adom News in an interview, the headmaster of Worawora SHS, called on the government to aid in the completion of the abandoned classrooms and dormitories, as it is crucial for the school’s development and students’ well-being.

He believes that having adequate facilities will create a conducive learning environment and improve the overall quality of education at the school.

“In 2010 two structures were put up, the dining hall and kitchen complex and then the boys’ dormitory; where the boys are using now as a dormitory is not a dormitory, it’s a classroom that we converted as dormitory and use the uncompleted building as classroom. So we will be very grateful if they speak about completing those facilities for us, at least it will give us some room to operate very well.“

Few students who were interviewed also supported the headmaster’s plea; they believe supporting the school in this way would be an investment in the future of the students at Worawora SHS.

“We don’t have science labs, we also don’t have dining hall and our dormitories are crowded, please Government should do something about it.”

“We don’t have adequate learning equipment and our environment is not conducive for learning, please we are pleading and calling on government and private individuals to come to our aid.”

They believe that investing in education is crucial for the country’s development and that providing students with necessary facilities will help them reach their full potential.
