The match commissioners of the game involving Togo and Niger have decided to reschedule the West African Football (WAFU) U-17 Zone B clash- which was set to take place at 6pm today- due to heavy downpour at the University of Ghana Stadium.

Niger and Togo were in line to take to the pitch after defending champions Nigeria, and Burkina Faso played out a goalless draw some hours before their encounter.

However, the torrential downpour — which began in the second half of Nigeria’s game— left the pitch in a bad state, tending the pitch inappropriate to play the match.

The pitch was submerged in water, in some aspects, leading to match commissioners performing frequent checks on the state of the pitch at regular intervals for clarity to allow the fixture proceed.

After final checks were under taken, it was concluded that the ball will not be able to skim on the turf, as well as players being unable to pace down the grass at will.

Togo and Niger, who were already at the Stadium for group B’s second game, will have to put their acts together in order to feature at the venue on Friday, 17 May, 2024 at 9am.
