On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Radio Univers, the campus-based radio station of the University of Ghana, organized a meeting with the Sports Directorate at their premises. The primary objective of this gathering was to foster a strong and collaborative relationship between the two entities.
During the meeting, the Sports Directorate and the sports journalists from Radio Univers engaged in an open and productive discussion, sharing key details and insights. Dr. Austin Luguterah, the Director of Sports, warmly welcomed the sports desk of Radio Univers, acknowledging the radio station’s role as the official mouthpiece of the University.
“We are related in all ways, you’re the voice of the University of Ghana; you are share to the vision of the university where we all belong”- he said.
The meeting provided a platform for addressing various concerns and issues related to the development of sports at the University of Ghana. Dr. Luguterah shared his vision and plans for elevating the university’s sports programs to international standards, sparking a lively and informative discussion.
By establishing this partnership, Radio Univers and the Sports Directorate aim to promote a stronger sports culture within the university community, while also enhancing the visibility and reputation of the University of Ghana’s sports programs.
The Radio Univers team was led by Andy Asante Okyere, Programs Manager and Director of Sports, and Asack Pius, Head of Sports, accompanied by several other key sports personnel Including Petras Anab Alli, Martin Achoanya, Gabriel Tecco Mensah, Erica Odoom, John Foh Amoanim, Stephen Apuri, Rashad Ginola, David Dzaku and Richard Analdo Senah(Liquid Entertainment Sports Commentator of the Year 2024).
The Sports and Wellness Directorate was also well-represented at the meeting, with a diverse group of professionals attending. The team was led by: Dr. Austin W. Luguterah, the Director of Sports and Wellness, who brought his expertise and leadership to the discussion. He was joined by several other key members, including: Augustin Amissare (Senior Assistant Registrar), Mary Zambilla Yahaya,(Head coach, Handball), Henry Nii Sackey(Chief Sports Coach of the Volleyball team).
Additionally, several sports organizers and fitness instructors attended, including: Daniel Opare Okyere, Senior Sports Organizer and Swim Coach, who also heads the Wellness Section, Alfred Attieku, Principal Fitness Instructor, and Daniel Yin, Senior Fitness Instructor.
Finally, Geoffrey Adofo, Senior Sports Organizer and Head of Media, IT, and Publicity, attended to provide support on media and communication-related matters.
Together, this team of professionals from the Sports Directorate engaged in a productive and informative meeting with Radio Univers.

Radio Univers is a semi-autonomous unit of Public Affairs of the University of Ghana which broadcasts on a frequency of 105.7 FM granted to it by the National Communications Authority for institutional radio stations.
