Several vendors at the University of Ghana Night Market have shared their concerns and hopes regarding the new government’s economic policies.
Their comments follows the expectations of citizens in the business sector on how the new government plans to manage the economy.
Speaking with Univers News, these vendors emphasized the need for policies that promote stability, affordability, and growth, as any significant changes in government policy could greatly affect their ability to prosper.
They showed eagerness to see how the new administration will prioritize their sector and its contribution to the broader economy.
“I am expecting the president elect to work and fulfill whatever promise he made ,because at the end of the day his works won’t benefit only NDC but rather it will benefit Ghanaians. So, I’m hoping he will execute his policies like the 24 hour economy which in the long run will affect our business positively.”
“Sales at the Night Market in the past years has not been encouraging, as prices of goods and services has shoot up influencing us to sell at a higher price in order to make profit. However because we are selling to students, they complain of the prices which deter them from patronizing our services. Despite this economic turmoil, I am trusting that the President elect will do everything in his power to stabilize the market for us,to be able to make good sales.”
“The dollar which serves as a medium for buying and selling has really affected our business badly. I wish that prices of good and services will reduce so we can also sell goods at a very low price for students, because I believe students do not have enough money to spend. I am expecting that the transition in government will massively affect our business as a result of the reduction in the trading currency.”
