UGSRC Vice President Jeffrey Adu Yeboah has announced that the Students Representative Council (SRC) is ready to join the upcoming demonstration dubbed “We No Go Pay,” pending approval from the General Assembly.

This trending protest, whose pioneers remain unknown yet, arises in response to the recent 20% increase in residential fees at traditional halls, implemented by the Residential Fees Utility Fund (RFUF).

In an exclusive interview on campus with George Boateng, Adu Yeboah emphasized the importance of General Assembly endorsement before taking action.

“It is a matter of EXECOM and to some extent the General Assembly to decide what we are going to do. Because the highest decision-making body of the SRC is the General Assembly, and we may not be in the best position to just get up and then take such a stance. If the need be, EXECOM and General Assembly are proofs that we should embark on that (the demonstration).”

Mr. Adu Yeboah further clarified that any decision to rally would come only after all internal measures have been explored.

“We want to make sure that we’ve exhausted all internal structures first before the matter really escalates. But one thing I can assure everyone is that the SRC will fight till our last breath to ensure that justice prevails.”

As the situation unfolds, many students are hopeful that the SRC’s involvement will amplify their concerns regarding the recent fee hikes, potentially sparking widespread campus engagement in the movement for change.
