General Secretary aspirant in the ongoing University of Ghana Students’ Representative Council (UGSRC) elections, Fosua Amankwa Kesse, has been disqualified after failing to meet the minimum CGPA requirement set out in the UGSRC Constitution.

‎According to a statement issued by the UGSRC Electoral Commission, CGPA verification conducted by the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs revealed that Ms. Kesse did not meet the 3.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) required at the time of filing her nomination.

‎Article 30(1)(b) of the UGSRC Constitution, states:

‎“A student shall not be qualified for election to any executive office unless… he has attained a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 as at the time of filing his nomination.”

‎The Commission noted that 16 out of 17 aspirants met the academic criteria. Ms. Kesse’s disqualification means she will no longer be eligible to contest in the upcoming elections.

‎“The Commission is proceeding in accordance with the electoral guidelines. Further updates will be shared where necessary,” the statement read.

‎The CGPA verification process forms part of the Commission’s efforts to uphold transparency, parity, and academic integrity within student leadership.
