#UGDecides’24: Voting begins as Dean debunks postponement claims of elections

The University of Ghana’s Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Wiafe Akenteng has debunked claims that the Electoral Commission has postponed the Student Representative Council elections.

Speaking on Campus Exclusive, he confirmed that the elections will proceed as scheduled today.

Also, students at the University of Ghana have started receiving voting links ahead of today’s Students Representative Council elections.

The links are being sent by the University of Ghana Computing Systems to the mails of students.

The election is set to come off even after the interlocutory injunction on the elections.

The final list of candidates was determined after a balloting session held yesterday, September 16, 2024.

For the presidential race, the following pairs are running:
– Emmanuel Mensah and Justice Mbawin Abugri
– Noah Nii Afotey Odai and Abigail Ohenewaa Addai
– Blessing Mantey and Agbefia Martin
– Emmanuel Owusu Amponsah and Lawrence Edinam Egleh
– Maradona Adjei Yeboah and Jeffery Adu-Yeboah

Candidates for the General Secretary position include:
– Duodu Faith Constance
– Deborah Fabiri Damoah
– Lorinda Owie Teyehugmeh

Running for the SRC Treasurer position are:
– Jonathan Kankam
– Michael Arhin Nash
– Roland Oppong.
