Presidential Candidate in this year’s University of Ghana Students Representative Council elections, Noah Wumborbi has attributed the SRC Electoral Commission’s publicity of this year’s electoral processes to the campaign of Former National Presidential Candidate, Akua Donkor.
Noah Wumborbi, who spoke to UniversNews, after the UGSRC elections were rescheduled due to some system challenges, described how mediocre the EC’s job was regarding the publicity of this year’s electoral processes.
According to him, the EC did not make sure that most students were aware of the voting processes and other relevant information regarding the elections.
“Their publicity is as weak as Afia Donkor’s campaign, that is just the fact, and all students can attest to this. I mean, they release flyers and their communiques and it doesn’t go anywhere, and it just stays on the aspirants’ page. I mean, they should up their game because it is very key to the conduct of their election. It is surprising that you call students and ask if have they voted today, and the person doesn’t know,” he said.
Noah Wumborbi further advised the EC to make use of the University webpage and the student mail in the dissemination of relevant information regarding electoral processes.
“The EC should be on top of matters to ensure that they are done. If you have to move away from writing a communique and put it on your status and think all students have seen it, then you have to move away from there to a point where announcements would be put on the University page, and we would be receiving emails, and I mean all students would be receiving emails as to whatever processes that are happening concerning the election. That, I think, would help a lot in the publicity bid of the EC and the election”.
