In a bid to enhance learning and provide equal opportunities for students, the University of Ghana has distributed laptops to 50 students in the Department of Computer Science.
This initiative, known as “1 Student, 1 Laptop” (1S1L), aims to equip students with the necessary tools to succeed academically.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, urged the beneficiaries to take good care of their laptops and to use them primarily for academic purposes. She emphasized the importance of technology in today’s world and how it can be used to enhance learning.

Dr. Ebenezer Owusu, Head of Department of Computer Science, expressed his gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the 1S1L Committee for the honour and hoped for more computers for their students. He also stressed the importance of technology in computer science education and how it can be used to improve research and innovation.

The distribution of laptops to students is a step towards bridging the digital divide and ensuring that students have access to the necessary tools for academic success.
Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo is also set to cut sod for the first Hotspot Comfort Zone construction under the Digitalisation Initiative.
The construction is being sponsored by the University of Ghana Alumni Association.
The Hotspot Comfort Zones are part of a three-pronged initiative aimed at providing a conducive environment for students to engage in online learning and research.
The sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the first Hotspot Comfort Zone is scheduled for Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 11 a.m.
The event will take place adjacent to the Maison Française and the Athletics Oval on the university campus.
