Master student at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), Dennis Twumasi Ankrah has been reported to have met his demise following an accident on the UGBS-UPSA road stretch.

The unfortunate incident occurred after the student was alleged to have been attacked by robbers on his way back to his residence from class on November 21, 2023. It was also alleged that the student was pushed on the road filled with moving cars by the robbers, after resisting attempts at being robbed.

Speaking to Univers News, the father of the demised individual, Mr. Twumasi Ankrah confirmed the news; he gave an account of what he believed occurred and what was reported to have resulted in the untimely death of his son.

“Because of the distance from the school, I looked for a hostel near UPSA for him. Last week he came home and on Tuesday when I was going to work, I picked him and he went to register… According to a colleague, he alighted at [the junction] where the traffic light is and he was walking on the stretch from the junction to UPSA.”

“At the roundabout, according to the police when he got there, they tried to take his bag away from him and in the process of attacking him, he overpowered them so they couldn’t take the bag. One of them pushed him and when he was falling, there was an incoming vehicle that knocked him down. The driver tried [his best], he took my son and rushed him to the Legon hospital.”

Mt. Twumasi Ankrah also explained that his son’s corpse is currently in the process to undergo autopsy.

“Dennis was pronounced dead [on arrival], so yesterday I went to Legon police, and we were told that we have to do an autopsy.”

The police are still investigating the cause of his death and will update the general public upon receipt of the police report.

Meanwhile, the UGBS has also taken to express their condolences to the family of the deceased. The dean of the school, Prof. Justice Bawole revealed that measures will be taken to improve safety of students from the school to prevent such incidents from recurring.
