The University of Ghana has begun manual registration for newly admitted students across various departments and halls on campus.
The manual registration process in each department, which began on January 16, 2025, is set to end on varying dates. included the payment of departmental dues as well as the option to purchase souvenirs such as T-shirts, books, pens, and other paraphernalia.
The pricing of these souvenirs, however, has sparked mixed reactions among freshers.
Speaking to Univers News, some students expressed dissatisfaction, raising concerns about the cost and transparency.
“The prices are quite high compared to the dues we paid. In my department, we weren’t shown the souvenirs beforehand, so we couldn’t assess their value. Personally, I didn’t buy them because I felt it wasn’t worth it.”
Others, however, felt the pricing was fair and justified given current production costs.
“It’s quite good. We got a T-shirt and a diary for 120 cedis, and I think it’s reasonable. Considering the quality and current market prices, I feel it’s worth it.”
“I think it’s better because the dues were included in the cost. It’s not too much for what we’re getting.”
While some students are hesitant to purchase the souvenirs due to budget constraints, others view them as valuable keepsakes of their university journey.
