Chairperson of the University of Ghana Governing Council Marietta Brew, accompanied by Vice Chancellor Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo and other senior officials, has continued her familiarization tour of university facilities to deepen her understanding of UG’s operations.
On July 17, the delegation visited the UG-Tema Learning Centre and the Livestock and Poultry Research Centre.
At the Tema Learning Centre, Coordinator Dr. Samuel Quartey shared plans for infrastructural expansion and academic diversification.
“We’re working to diversify our income streams and expand facilities, including a new library,” he said, while leading the team around the center.
The team later toured the Livestock and Poultry Research Centre, where Head of Centre Dr. Leonard Kofi Adjorlolo outlined the facility’s long-standing challenges.
“Our needs are many—and meaningful. This sector has been around for years,” he said, appealing for support from the Vice Chancellor and Council Chair to help the center transition beyond service provision to management and strategic partnerships.
During the visit, the delegation also noted cases of encroachment on parts of the university’s land at Borteyman.
The visit is part of an ongoing initiative by the new Council Chair to engage directly with UG’s facilities and strengthen governance through firsthand insight.
