The College of Education has organized a Maiden Staff and Student Awards and Dinner Dance 2024 at the University of Ghana.
The Awards ceremony, which took place at the Great Hall at the University of Ghana on Friday, 23rd August 2024 sought to recognize the efforts and inputs of distinguished staff and students across various facets of education.
In attendance were dignitaries such as The Provost of the College of Education, Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Cudjoe, Registrar of College of Education, Mr. Joseph Oduro Nkansah, Executive Director and Group CEO of IPMC- Amar Deep S. Hari, Rev. John Nkum (Ghana Baptist Church), The Group Chairman of M&C Group (Global), Mr Micheal Leslie Bartlette-Vanderpuye, among other distinguished guests.
Speaking at the maiden Staff And Student Awards And Dinner Dance, the Provost of the College of Education, Professor Samuel Nii Ardey Codjoe in his welcome address recounted the achievements of the College of Education ranging from the establishment of two city campuses in Kumasi and Takoradi, the hosting of the maiden Pen Ceremony to celebrate the accomplishments of 4 associate professors, completion of a 3-storey building for the College’s Tema learning centre, the establishment of the Legon Center for Education Research and Policy, to mention but a few.
He mentioned that “the establishment of this maiden Awards and Dinner Dance is our way of honouring and celebrating those within our community who have excelled in various ways and contributed significantly to enhancing the College’s reputation”.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the College Advisory Board, Nana Kwadwo Dwomoh Benneh congratulated and expressed appreciation to all the awardees for their hard work and dedication to the University of Ghana College of Education, the sponsors of the event and all staff and student present.
He intimated the plans of the College to make the event an annual ceremony and urged staff and students who may not receive awards to work harder to secure the awards for themselves next year.
Awardees received plaques and citations alongside other prizes like table top- refrigerators, television, sums of money and laptops.
