The Chairman of the University of Ghana Chapter of the Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU-UG), Benjamin Nkumsah has issued an appeal to management to address key staff challenges, including understaffing, long working hours, and adequate recognition, while encouraging employees to remain united in their pursuit of excellence.

Speaking at the commencement of the 2025 UG Employees Week celebration, Mr. Nkumsah acknowledged the indispensable role staff play in the university’s success but highlighted the difficulties they face daily.

“We gather here today to recognize the tireless efforts and dedication of the men and women who work behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of the university. We are, however, understaffed. We work long hours and often without adequate recognition,” he stated, outlining the primary concerns.

He also stressed the importance of a unified workforce in achieving institutional excellence. He urged staff to collaborate and support one another to foster a positive and productive environment.

“Let us continue to work together, united in our quest for excellence, for we are one University of Ghana, one workforce. Together, we can achieve greatness,” he concluded.
