As the Christmas season approaches, the Office of the Women’s Commission of the School of Languages Junior Common Room (SoL JCR), led by Yvonne Mensah, donated items to the cleaners of Dr. Hilla Limann Hall on Friday, December 13.
The donated items, which included bags of rice, bottles of cooking oil, and bags of water, were presented in recognition of the cleaners’ hard work and contributions to maintaining the hall in excellent condition.
In her speech, Yvonne Mensah, the Women’s Commissioner of the SoL JCR, highlighted the purpose of the donation, stating that it was to acknowledge the cleaners’ efforts and “put a smile on their faces” as Christmas approaches.
“We’re doing this to appreciate and thank you for the resilience and hard work you put into ensuring the cleanliness of the hall. As Christmas draws near, we want to give you these items to bring joy to your hearts and to show our gratitude for your labour,” she said.
After receiving the items, Patrick Hayford, one of the cleaners, expressed gratitude on behalf of his colleagues.
“We thank you for what you have done. May God bless you,” he said.
Dignitaries present at the event included the SoL JCR President, Nimako M. Derrick; the UGSRC Women’s Commissioner, Antoinette Opoku; and Aisha Bernadette Adams, the Kwapong Hall General Secretary, who graced the occasion with their presence.
