Executive Director of Revenue Mobilization Africa Geoffrey Kabutey Ocansey has urged the youth to confidently voice their concerns and leverage the power of social media to drive positive change in the country.

He spoke as the guest speaker at the Youth Participatory Forum (YPF) launch at the University of Ghana(UG) on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, under the theme “Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders for Transparent Governance and Active Citizenship.”

He highlighted the transformative potential of social media platforms like TikTok, urging Ghanaian youth to utilize these tools to initiate meaningful conversations and advocate for change

“If you look at the impact of TikTok on the world. People are fixing their clothes, woodwork, metalworks, and ICT, come to my country, young people. What do you see? Pathetic! But that’s an opening. You can use TikTok to address the present now because you don’t need to share it. You just need to start a conversation. Young people, that’s your power! You can start telling the government, ‘Stop capping GETFund concerning education. We have needs!!’ Drop that chamber campaign! Run it through!”

However, he urged moderation and wise use of energy in addressing issues.

“Look at your energies and use your energies wisely. To make a point, prove that point, shoot the issue and we can achieve something.”
