Buabeng stars as Lacklustre Bani fumble in opening group D fixture
Defending Champions, _Bani Hall_ succumbed to a surprise 2-0 loss when they took on the men’s football team of _Elizabeth Sey hall_ in the University of Ghana Football League.
Two quick fire goals from Felix Buabeng gave Sey a huge boost in their bid to qualify for the knockout stage of the 2023 UGFL.
The goals did not come in handy, as the _Frances_ were pushed to work out of their skins in a very unentertaining game. Bani looked robust in the early members of the game, but grew lacklustre as the game itched forward.
Bani had a goal ruled out for offside. Clifford Enyam collected Amoah’s beautifully crafted lobbed pass from in-behind the defence, and finished off in some style but the goal did not stand.
Sey’s first attempt at goal came from a corner kick; goalscorer Buabeng ballooned a first-time shot that fell to him, before he misfired his subsequent effort. But the _Frances_ would not stop trying; A magnificent blind pass from John Preprah caught the Bani defence unawares, Bateobo beat offside trap only to shoot straight at goalkeeper Darko.
The defending champions Bani, managed only two shots in the second half with Maxwell Amoah miscuing a half volley. Moments later _the Frances_ grabbed their first, as felix Buabeng curled-in from 18 yards after mazing through the defence from from the from the outside, to put Elizabeth Sey Hall in the lead.
Sey will go on to a second. Super Substitute Elisu Atika dazzled his way in-behind the defence to set up the on-rushing Buabeng who
was fouled in the 18yard box, enroute’ to plunging at goal.
Felix Buabeng hit a brace with a spectacular penalty kick.
The _Frances_ have secured qualification to the next round, but will have to wait till the Valco – Bani game to determine whether they finish as leaders or runner-up in group B.
