The Black Queens of Ghana after a painful 1-0 defeat against the Copper Queens of Zambia in the first leg of the Paris 2024 Olympic Qualifiers, are poised to reclaim their momentum as they face off against their opponents once more on Wednesday, this time at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia.

The world’s most expensive female footballer Racheal Kundananji of Richard Bay Football club in the United States of America scored the only goal for the Copper Queens in the 18th minute at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.

Following a narrow victory on foreign soil last Friday, the Zambian Copper Queens are now in contention for advancement to the next stage of the Qualification phase. Despite this, Black Queens head coach Nora Hauptle remains hopeful, expressing confidence that her team can pull off an unexpected victory in the Zambian capital this coming Wednesday.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t secure a victory against Zambia in the first leg, but we have another opportunity in the second leg against them, she remarked

“I believe that once we find the net, momentum will swing in our favour, and then we’ll gear up for the fourth-round clash against Morocco in April. I think when we put one goal in, it will explode down there, and then we back in April for the fourth round against Morocco and then I hope that the stadium [Accra Sports Stadium] here is cooking and we can get a sold-out stadium.” Nora Hauptle added

Since assuming the role of Head Coach for Ghana, Nora Hauptle has experienced a downturn, with two consecutive losses following a promising start that saw her secure victory in her first 10 games in charge of the team.

The Ghana National Women’s Team has been hoping for an Olympic Games Qualification since making their last appearance in 2004.
