Dr. Austin Wontepaga Luguterah, Director of the University of Ghana’s Sports and Wellness Directorate, has praised the Right to Dream Academy for its outstanding ability to identify, develop, and produce exceptionally talented football players, highlighting the academy’s remarkable success in nurturing young athletes.
The Right to Dream Academy, founded by Tom Vernon in 1999, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a grand event at Old Akrade in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The academy has made a significant impact on the lives of many, providing opportunities for young individuals to excel in sports, academics, and personal development.
Notable alumni include Samuel Adingra, Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Abdul Majeed Waris, Osman Ibrahim, Ernest Nuamah and Ousseni Bouda. The academy’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting excellence has made it a renowned institution in the region.
Speaking at the academy’s 25th-anniversary celebration in Old Akrade on Monday, Dr. Luguterah applauded the Academy’s exceptional football talent development.
“They [Right to Dream] have shown in the past 25 years that they have produced so many great talents and I can imagine how the next 25 years is going to look now,” Luguterah said.
“The people we see now as kids, just add another 25 years to their lives, they are going to be the leaders.
“They [Right to Dream] are filling the big gap that is created within our system in Ghana. They are hidden in their own corner but producing huge people and impacting lives to people who will fit not only in Ghana but the world”
“Education must instil values and creativity, fostering the resilience and integrity needed to build the leaders of tomorrow,” he added
Right to Dream plans to expand its facilities and increase its current 95-student capacity by at least 50 percent over the next 24 months, solidifying its status as a hub for nurturing talent and excellence in Africa.
