Ghana’s leading campus-based media outlet, Radio Univers, in partnership with the Safety and Security Directorate of the University of Ghana, has embarked on a campus-wide cleanup exercise as part of phase two of its growing #PostRightUG campaign.
The initiative, launched on May 19, 2025, just days before the semester reopened on May 22, is themed “Post Right, Keep UG Clean!” and aims to curb unauthorised poster placements and indiscriminate littering across the university campus.
Following weeks of digital advocacy — including jingles, videos, flyers, and campus outreach — Radio Univers has begun removing posters from trees, poles, signposts, and walls, particularly in high-traffic areas where defacement had become rampant.
This second phase of the campaign puts advocacy into action, reinforcing its goal of promoting a clean and organised campus environment. The operation is being rolled out in phases, with several cleanup exercises planned across different parts of the university.
As the initiative continues, students and student groups are being reminded to use only designated notice boards for publicity.
The #PostRightUG hashtag continues to gain traction across campus digital spaces, with students sharing content and lending their voices to the campaign.
Meanwhile, following the campaign, the Dean of Student Affairs has issued a directive urging all student aspirants to adhere strictly to the guidelines on posting campaign materials during the election season.
In a statement dated June 11, 2025, and signed by Prof. Rosina I. Kyerematen, aspirants are advised to post only in authorized locations such as halls and hostels of residence, departmental billboards, and designated electronic boards managed by the Public Affairs and Sports and Wellness Directorates. Unauthorised areas — including lecture halls, walkway pavements, trees, and streetlights — have been flagged as off-limits.
Aspirants are also required to seek prior approval from the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs before mounting any campaign materials. The statement further noted that the Safety and Security Services Directorate will conduct routine checks across campus, and any aspirant found violating the guidelines will be fined accordingly.
