Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Frank Nelson says instability in the club’s technical department is a huge contributing factor in Hearts’ poor showing in recent years.
The Phobians had some success under former coach Samuel Boadu but struggled to replicate the same performance under interim head coach David Ocloo in the 2022/23 league season.
Asked why this worrying situation has become prevalent, Nelson pointed out to quick changes in the technical department as a major reason for the club’s topsy-turvy performance in recent years.
“The changes that we had, our technical department has not been stable. There has been a lot of shake in our technical department, from Papic to Nii Noi and from Nii Noi then Matic. I mean there are a lot of changes in our technical department and I can just always guarantee you the team with such a shaky situation always find instability at its door step. So we have noticed all these things but the board is working around the clock to make sure that such situations do not repeat itself,” he said.
Mr. Frank Nelson also assured the fans that the club is working hard to put smiles on their faces
“We will work and make sure that we put smiles on the faces of our supporters and every other person who loves football. Equally, Accra Hearts of Oak is a big brand but when the club is not doing well, it is assumed that Ghana football is not well. So we are not just thinking about our supporters ,we are thinking as the nation,”the board member of hearts of oak added.
The 21 times Ghana Premier League Champions finished the 2022-23 season trophyless after they placed 12th position on the league table with 46 points after 34 games.
Accra Hearts of Oak recorded 12 wins, 12 draws, and 10 losses as they scored a total of 34 goals and conceding 37 goals to wrap up the season.
The Club was also eliminated from the MTN FA Cup competition by current champions Dreams FC in the Quarter Final Stages of the competition.
