Some prospective National Service Scheme (NSS) personnel have expressed mixed reactions following the commencement of registration for the 2025/2026 service year.

At a press briefing on Tuesday, October 7, the Acting Director-General of the National Service Authority, Ruth Dela Seddoh, announced that registration for the 2025/2026 service year would begin on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, and close on October 15, 2025.

In light of this, Univers News spoke with some prospective NSS personnel. While some welcomed the announcement as a positive step, others voiced frustration over how the process has been handled.

“When the registration began in June, I started the process. I paid, but I couldn’t complete it because the website had some issues. Now they’re saying we have to start all over again, and our money should be refunded. As of now, the site hasn’t been opened,” one prospective NSS personnel said.

Another described the situation as stressful:

“It took too long for them to communicate. We weren’t hearing anything from the official pages. The press briefing brought a bit of stability and calmness to all of us.”

Others were more critical, saying the process had been unfair to graduates.

“My thoughts on NSS—it’s a no, no, no for me because how they’re handling things is not helping us. Even registering the first time wasn’t easy, and now being told to re-register again shows the system isn’t working for us.”

The Acting Director-General explained that prospective NSS personnel who registered in June were asked to re-register primarily due to concerns about data integrity.
