Police open investigation into Akufo-Addo’s damaged statue

The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the damage done to President Akufo-Addo’s statue at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

In the early hours of Monday, December 16, the statue, located at the entrance of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis of the Western Region, was discovered vandalised. A portion of the left leg had been broken, leaving a visible hole in the statue.

In a statement released after the incident, the police assured the public that they are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend those responsible for the act.

“Efforts are underway to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” the statement read.

According to the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the monument was erected to honour the president’s development initiatives during his time in office.
